Native Time

Native Time or “Timer” is a 17 hand Bay Gelding that was purchased at the age of 7 directly off the old Centennial Race Track in Littleton, Colorado as Jim’s first Thoroughbred Event Horse. Because he was still very sound running that long, Jim and his mother Sue thought he should have some longevity in Eventing as well.

“Timer” competed with Jim from 1982-1990 and stayed in the family competing 3 more years before he was sold to a Pony Clubber as a “Schoolmaster”.

Jim took “Timer” from Beginner Novice to Advanced Level in 5 years collecting numerous awards along the way. In 1984 “Native Time” took Jim around their first Three-Day Event at Abbe Ranch in Larkspur, Colorado to finish 3rd. In 1985 “Timer” won Mountain States Combined Training Association “Preliminary Horse of the Year”, Jim got his “A” rating for the United States Pony Club aboard Timer, and he was 11th Individually at the American Continental Young Riders Championship in Wadsworth, Illinois.

In 1986 he was 25th at the Rolex Kentucky International 3-Day Event at the CCI** and in 1987 he was 24th at Rolex CCI**. In 1989 Jim and “Native Time” retired at Rolex in the CCI*** due to a bowed tendon.

“Timer” came back in 1990 to compete at Advanced Horse Trials but was never able to do a Three-Day Eventing again. “Timer” is now 26 years old and resides at a Riding school in California.
